Testimonials

Dr. Bentson treated me for severe constant neck and shoulder pain which had lasted for almost three months due to a repetitive work injury. He had me get x-rays for both areas then treated me twice a week for about four weeks. By the end of that time I had little to no pain left. He gave me exercises to do at home which helped ease the pain and gave me strength in my spine.

As soon as I walked in the waiting room, the soft music and decor relaxed me. The receptionist was kind and sweet. Dr. Bentson asked me many questions and took the time to listen to all my long answers. I felt he wanted to treat me as a whole person, not just as a neck and shoulder. I had never been to a chiropractor before so I did not know what to expect. His gentle massages of my neck and spine and the home exercises gradually gave way to no pain. I liked that he was concerned about prevention in the future, by giving me core exercises to continue afer treatment. During all my vists, Dr. Bentson treated me with professionalism, but at the same time made me feel very relaxed.

I had been to Lehigh Valley Chiropractic, PC in 2009. I saw Dr. Benson here and he was very good. I got to know about them through Angie’s list. I have not continued to go to them because they are located very far away. I saw them only twice and I liked them.

I called Lehigh Valley Chiropractic when my neck pain started radiating down my arm. The staff was extremely understanding and got me seen quickly. The whole office is beautifully decorated and serene. Dr Bentson was very thorough and descriptive, never made me feel rushed or dismissed and attentively listened to my concerns. Excellence all around.

It was a positive experience. There is a very little waiting time in the waiting room when you are in there. They provide excellent care and are very courteous with the whole work. Their staff is professional.

I went to Lehigh Valley Chiropractic because of lower back pain and difficulty standing and walking. Dr. Bentson listened to my concerns and requested an MRI on my back before starting a treatment program. The MRI verified the location causing pain and Dr. Bentson started a treatment program aimed at relieving the pain. Currently, I am under his care 2x/week and I have less pain and more mobility than I did at my first appointment.

The office staff at Lehigh Valley Chiropractic is very friendly and helpful especially when setting up appointments and handling paperwork.

I recommend Lehigh Valley Chiropractic to anyone who has back pain and hasn’t been able to find help through normal medical channels. I went to a neurologist and a podiatrist looking for a source for the pain in my back. But, it was Dr. Bentson at Lehigh Valley Chiropractic who diagnosed and is successfully treating me for the back pain.

Tension Headache

Written by Dr Scott Bentson on . Posted in Headache

What is a Tension-Type Headache?

A tension headache or tension-type headache is thought to be the most common type of headache. Usually people describe tension headaches as a tight and constricting band around their head. Pain generally increases as the day progresses with the pain at its worst in the late afternoon and early evening. Generally, the discomfort is reported as a dull and aching feeling across the forehead, at the temples, or at the base of the neck. Tension headaches can last from 30 minutes to a week. Some people experience these headaches rarely to occasionally while others report frequent episodes. A tension headache is different from migraine in that tension headaches are not usually associated with neurologic disturbances (changes in vision, weakness or numbness on one side of the body, sensitivity to light, sound and smell), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Although muscle tension and trigger points play a role in tension headaches, researchers now believe that abnormal changes in neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) may be contributing to the cause. These headaches may be triggered by stress, anxiety, posture, clenching of the jaw, straining of the eyes and fatigue.

Migraine sufferers are always looking for their migraine triggers. Figuring out migraine triggers can often be tricky. Studies show that migraine triggers can be as variable as stress, hormonal imbalance, not eating often enough, changes in weather, difficulty sleeping, olfactory (smell) stimulants, sitting in front of a TV/computer, neck pain, lights (especially flashing lights), alcohol, certain foods, smoke, sleeping-in, heat, intense exercise, and sexual activity.
